SY Neighbourhood Works is a new charitable Community Benefit Society working on community-owned retrofit programmes across South Yorkshire.

We are building holistic neighbourhood retrofit programmes where housing and community assets are community-owned.

Our projects will integrate retrofit and community energy initiatives with the creation of climate-resilient, and biodiverse green spaces. In doing so, the programme will enable meaningful local employment and build long-term economic security within communities.

This is a direct response to short-term retrofit funding, the crisis of unhealthy homes, and an exploitative profit-driven private rental sector. We are challenging a system that treats housing as a commodity, extracting wealth from working: class communities, putting pressure on health services and deepening inequalities.
